If you want to look like a princess on your wedding day, you will need perfect make up.
It's important to remember that make up and hair are the finishing touches to your look
Your essential beauty guide. All the top tips from a celebrity media make up artist.

Look like a princess

If you want to look like a princess on your wedding day, you will need perfect make up. It's important to remember that make up and hair are the finishing touches to your look. Hair should balance and compliment your dress, and make up needs to have that professional touch, so you will look radiant on photographs and in your videos. So where do you start?

For that glowing complexion, you must take care of your skin. Invest in a good quality range of cleansers, toners and moisturisers that suit your skin type, and use twice daily. Use a gentle exfoliator on your face once a week. This will remove dead skin cells and give you a glowing skin tone. It's a really good idea to have several facials for 3 months leading up to your wedding day. You will deep cleanse your skin, hydrate, close open pores and have a fabulous radiance too! This will certainly help to give you a flawless look, and relaxing too….

The next step is to decide on your foundation. This is oh-so crucial, and so many people get it wrong! This is the base to your make up, and if you get this right, the rest is easy. A good foundation should be easy to apply and preferably contain a light reflecting ingredient.

Top Tips

  • Test a foundation shade on your face and never on your hands. They are a different colour to your face, and the texture will not be noticed. If you are wearing make up when buying your foundation, try a little dab on your wrist pulse points. It should match.
  • Never add colour to your face by using foundation. It will definitely look unnatural. Fake tans are an option, and blushers and bronzers are designed to give natural colour to your skin.
  • For that bronze effect, apply a bronzing powder in several places, where the sun would catch you. If you apply it all over, it can look overdone.
When deciding on your make up, take into consideration how much make up you usually wear. Don't overdo it on the day or you will feel uncomfortable. A professional make up artist is an option to consider. They can make you look very natural, while emphasising your good points, and concealing those you care not to remember! Once you know how you want your make up to look, how do you get it to last all day This is the skill of a professional…..and here are some of my secrets!
  • Use a T- zone balance product before applying make up.
  • Experiment with a make up base. These can be tricky to apply, but hold make up in place all day!
  • Set your make up with a smooth powder.
  • Use a waterproof mascara, or if you are sensitive in the eye area, try a waterproof gel.
  • Choose a top quality, moisturising, long lasting lipstick. If you want gloss, apply over the top!

Finally

When choosing the style of your hair, or the colours of your make up, try to reflect the theme running through your wedding. The style and shape of your dress should have an impact on your wedding day hair and make up. Colours of your flowers can be incorporated into your make up and hair accessories too. All the fine details will make your image more stunning!
